   Often described as a vegan alternative to silk, banana fibre has the versatility of silk and can be spun to produce a range of yarns from tight and smooth to looser, fuzzier skeins.

This yarn has been spun tightly to form a strong, thick yarn with a gorgeous sheen and a lovely slubby texture.  Knitted on 5-6mm needles it forms a richly textured and surprisingly stretchy fabric which is ideal for posh market bags or an unusual gilet.

Banana fibre comes from the bark of banana trees, which are indigenous to many parts of the world, and this lovely white colour is the undyed fibre, making this a rather green yarn.  Handwash in warm water, dry flat.
